# Editmamei > Editmamei lets AI apps edit your real photo with professional editing tools instead of redrawing it. It comes two ways: Editmamei Desktop, an MCP server that lets AI apps such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor edit photos in Adobe Photoshop or GIMP on your computer; and Editmamei Connect, a hosted MCP connector for AI apps such as Claude and ChatGPT that edits the photos you send it, from your phone or computer, on Editmamei's server. Ask a typical AI app to edit a photo and it generates a new picture from yours, so faces, lettering and fine detail can change. With Editmamei, the AI app plans the edit and real editing tools carry it out on the original photo, so what you didn't ask to change stays as it was. ## Editmamei Desktop An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that runs on your computer, next to the photo editor it drives. - Edits in Adobe Photoshop 2026 (version 27.x) or GIMP 3.2, as layers, masks and adjustment layers you can keep editing by hand. Your AI app sees small previews so it can check its work. - Runs on Windows 10/11 and macOS 13+, and on Linux with GIMP. - Works with AI apps that run MCP servers on your computer: Claude Desktop (one-click extension), Claude Code, Cursor and other MCP apps. It can't run inside a web-only chat app. - Install for Claude Desktop: download https://github.com/editmamei/editmamei/releases/latest/download/editmamei.mcpb and install it under Settings → Extensions. - Install for Claude Code, Cursor and others (needs Node.js 22+): `npm install -g editmamei`, then `editmamei install`, which registers it with Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor. Other apps use the install guide's configuration, which runs `npx -y editmamei`. - 112 tools: 83 for Photoshop (62 in the free Community edition, 21 more in Pro) and 29 for GIMP (all free). - Your photos stay on your computer and are never sent to Editmamei. It sends content-free usage data you can switch off, checks npm for updates, and with Pro checks its license and asks for Pro module updates. None of these carry images, documents or file paths. - Not a Photoshop plugin and not made by Adobe: a separate local program that sends Photoshop its instructions. It needs your own Photoshop license for Photoshop editing; GIMP is free. - Not for Lightroom or Photoshop Elements. Editions and prices: - Community: free, source-available under the Functional Source License (FSL-1.1-MIT). Source: https://github.com/editmamei/editmamei - Pro: $9 a month (7-day free trial), $79 a year, or $199 once with every future update. One license covers two computers. Pro adds Camera Raw as a re-editable filter, raw files developed before they open, whole-folder batches, templates that carry a look across a shoot, precise placement and warp, edits and selections aimed at a named object, face or subject, and Photoshop Actions and scripting. Pro is for Photoshop; GIMP support is the same in both editions. ## Editmamei Connect A hosted, remote MCP server that your AI app adds as a connector. Nothing to install, and no editing software needed. - Add https://connect.editmamei.com/mcp as a custom connector (in Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector). Works in Claude on the web, desktop and phone, ChatGPT, and other AI apps that add remote MCP servers with a sign-in, such as Cursor and VS Code. You sign up with your email address the first time it asks you to sign in. - Ask for an edit and your AI app gives you an upload link: send up to ten photos from your phone's camera roll or your computer. Connect edits them on Editmamei's server and hands back a download link that lasts 24 hours. - Edits the original photo with ordinary editing tools: selections, masks, adjustments, filters, crops and retouching. AI is used to find what to select (a subject, the sky, an object you name) and to fill in where you remove something. It doesn't generate images. - Exports JPEG, PNG, WebP or TIFF, or a layered PSD to keep working on. RAW files up to 100 MiB work on the larger workspace. - Uploads are deleted 24 hours after upload. Connect has its own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy: https://connect.editmamei.com/terms and https://connect.editmamei.com/privacy - Pricing: new accounts start with 150 free credits and get up to 50 more each month. Credit packs (750 for $7, 2,000 for $15) never expire; monthly plans are 1,500 credits for $10 or 7,500 for $35. - Connect's own overview, with every tool: https://connect.editmamei.com/llms.txt ## Links - [Home](https://editmamei.com): both products, with a side-by-side comparison against a typical AI app's redraw - [Editmamei Desktop](https://editmamei.com/desktop): how it works, real sessions, the GIMP section, and install steps - [Desktop tools](https://editmamei.com/desktop/tools): every Photoshop and GIMP tool, with what it does and its edition - [Desktop pricing](https://editmamei.com/desktop/pricing): Community and Pro - [Desktop docs](https://editmamei.com/desktop/docs): the install, getting started, FAQ, troubleshooting and GIMP guides - [Activate Pro](https://editmamei.com/desktop/activate) - [Editmamei Connect](https://editmamei.com/connect): how it works, real sessions, and setup - [Connect pricing](https://editmamei.com/connect/pricing): free credits, packs and monthly plans - [Pricing](https://editmamei.com/pricing): both products side by side - [Gallery](https://editmamei.com/gallery): real edits, each with its before and after and every step it took - [FAQ](https://editmamei.com/faq) - [Blog](https://editmamei.com/blog): release notes and write-ups - [Privacy (Desktop and this site)](https://editmamei.com/privacy) - [License](https://editmamei.com/license) - [Contact](https://editmamei.com/contact) - [npm package](https://www.npmjs.com/package/editmamei) - [Full Desktop documentation as one text file](https://editmamei.com/llms-full.txt)
